Q4OS with the Trinity Desktop

Conclusion

Q4OS 1.8.5 is a modern operating system with a nostalgic desktop. However, Trinity is not an end in itself but serves to optimize the system for older PCs and computers with low specs like the Pi.

Q4OS is stable and showed no weaknesses of any kind during testing. This said, we couldn't make it run with the minimal 128 MBytes RAM claimed by the project. It seems that the system needs to have at least 256 Mbytes.

The Trinity desktop is also useful for beginners and can save them a lot of time. One example is the fact you can install proprietary codecs with one click.

The developers of Q4OS offer professional support for their operating system. The help can include everything from adaptations for specific business models up to the creation of APIs and interface modifications. There's even a Q4OS shop [3] which offers pre-installed hardware that includes the Raspberry Pi, various notebooks, tower PCs and a server.
